Decided to start a thread for personal work done outside of the course! Any and all feedback on anything is appreciated.

Will be updating this regularly with a variety of work that I would like critique on. Thanks much!

Hey, these are really nicely rendered, just a quick crit, i think the scales a lil off, the mountains are tiny compared to the boat, either push the mountains further back or preferably scale the boat down, looks nice though keep it up. keep posting :)

A set of pictures of my characters. First and last are the same character, albeit at different ages

First took about three hours, second took 2, and the third took 4.5 hours

The last one is a little bit lacking as I focussed primarily on the sky, so attention was removed from the character, hence why they may seem a bit washed out and unlit

Advice on improvements in composition are appreciated!

Nice work, I guess the only advice I would give would be to try a do a little more western style concept art in the future, as great as they are they are very manga.

I still think you can not go wrong looking at Craig Mullins even though his style of photo bashing is ageing there is a quality to his style that is very appealing.

Anyway FRONTED, its still amazing work :)

Some older concept work for my webcomic, all done last year or older!

eremus_by_myth_keeper-da1o2x6.png

This one took about 45 minutes and wasn't my best work. Done last year during the summer before Alevels

fugendorse_tsunami_by_myth_keeper-da1nzc

This was done just after the previous and took about a couple hours. Also a rough concept

linkota_mountains_by_myth_keeper-da5lqt4

This one took about 2 hours to fully render. Again, after a couple years of staring at it, I can see a lot of flaws (the perspective and angle of the mountains being all out of wack), but criticism is still highly appreciated!

I wouldn't worry too much about time taken to complete a piece. What is seen as speed is actually just efficiency. Efficiency in not making mistakes that slow you down and making the right strokes and decisions. A piece of advice I would give is work on one piece until it is the best you can produce without getting too bored of it (it happens and will make the piece suffer if you just continue on after you've lost most of your interest). Pick and artist and set their quality of work as your benchmark and keep repeating the process of working on one piece until you hit that mark.

Saying that, daily spitpaint and other timed paints are a good exercise to see where you can cut corners but you need to learn the entire route first.

Great work so far though, keep it up and keep painting you'll be industry standard in no time.

Back to posting! Still going to continue posting older art done in the recent years
This time, these are trending more towards the regular/promotional pieces I do for a personal project. It's very stylised, as you can tell, so I would primarily like feedback on composition, colour theory, posing etc. but again; any and all feedback is appreciated! These are all part of a set, so some may look similar in composition and framing.

Just did one of those 30 minute speedpaint things... Which turned into 45 minutes because I have no discipline with dramatic lighting.

I tried taking the previous advice into consideration, but I'm still getting the hang of it. Would like a little feedback maybe, since I want to get into the habit of doing these much more often!

Thank you!!

Of course, there's nothing quite like the classic 4 am doodle. Kind of like the posing and composition in this one
