My Mari master class will be taking place in 1B01 at 17:15 on the 7th of November, I will be using my knight model as a demo piece going through my workflow and some of the things I picked up over summer.

Ill go through texturing an asset start to finish, some texturing techniques I use, how to create your own materials from scratch in designer and how to use photographs to enhance your materials.

 

Ive had a few people ask me to do a breakdown of a plane asset I made over summer, so thats the model we will be texturing together, this will give an insight into how to go about texturing assets in general, it has a good variety of materials in there, like rubber, metals and decals.

If anyone has any particular requests for what they would like me to go through let me know and ill try and get something together! (:

As we're all doing banners; my Unity masterclass will (probably) be in 1B05, Wednesday November 8th, 17:15 - 19:15 (doubt we'll take up the full slot, just depends how in depth people want to go). I'll be covering basic workflow, all the different types of lighting, the importance of good post effects and then probably do a breakdown of my Stalenhag mech scene just as a general overview of constructing a scene. If there's time, it'd be nice to go into the new timeline / cinemachine (camera) tools, and maybe (although doubtful) even touch on a bit of interaction stuff with some very basic (and un-intimidating!) scripting. 

Edit: Oh maybe some 2D stuff too if there's interest? Some wicked 2D tools in there now

Thanks everyone who has volunteered to give a talk; it's really good of you to do so. You'll find that nothing forces you to understand things like having to explain them to other people :)

Does someone know if we have to book the classroom? I've never done this before but I want to give a ZBrush character creation class on the 28th of November between 17:15 and 19:15.

Rigging and other technical wonders! 14th November, 1B01 at 5:15pm until whenever, I'll go over rigging, python, maybe some pipeline stuff and possibly writing custom Maya nodes in C++ (Sorry unreal people - I'm not skilled enough to get any C++ working for games).

 

I think I'm just going to leave it up to you guys for the specifics - anything that you're curious about or need to re-cover from lectures, pretty much anything technical I'll do my best to go through.

The banner for my ZBrush class. I will present my workflow for when I need to make a character quickly from concept art. How to use (your own) basemesh and some tricks to set up a full character and pose it really fast in zBrush if you don't have a lot of time. When I have time I will also present how I use different workflows for creating clothing.

Thanks to those who came along to the masterclass last night, I do hope it was useful! As suspected we weren't able to get through the whole process, but I finished the shot off on Twitch. I have condensed that recording into a 25 minute video with some commentary as a 'part two' of the masterclass for those who want to watch me finish what we started. When I was in first year I found the master classes really helpful, even if it's not relevant to your pathway, you can still pick up the odd bit of information :p mine'll be pretty newby friendly </plug>
