Yeah I’m a bit a late… But it’s better late than never, right? I just found it hard to get used to posting. Although I did start posting my work in places like conceptart.org, cghub and polycount.

Anyhow~ I’m a games art student and in my second year now. ;D

I started with zero knowledge in maya (well I did a month of it before I came to uni last year) so my work wasn’t so great at the start. There’s no point of posting it now. Here are some of my work from last year and some personal work and WIPs.

I want to say a BIG thank you to those who gave me advice on how to improve. Maybe I would have improved faster if I started posting last year... Anyway... Enjoy!

This one was the 3D corner scene. It's not too great but it turned out decent for one who knows nothing about maya and yet she wanted to be a game artist... We all gotta start somewhere, right? (:

For the corner room project, I've decided to do a scene from the Game of Thrones. I don't actually watch it but it's been recommended because it has nice compositions and lighting.

I chose the castle that the character Theon returns to. The one with the octopus fireplace. I hope I can pull it off (: Critiques are very welcome (:

Here is the scene:

Here are some of the stuff I've started to model (All are WIPs, I will be taking a few things to zBrush):

The chosen scene has a good selection of lighting types in it, go for it :)

Hey guys! Thanks for the feedback.

Just a quick update! So here is an AO render of my scene and some zBrush renders. Will still need to tweak a few things and add some texture. I will be making my tileable texture in zBrush (i.e. wall and floor). I will try and improve my chair a bit more as it needs a bit more lovin'.

About the chair, in the ref I couldn't get any better shots or resolution that would be enough for me to see the carved pattern on the backrest. Moreover, as my zBrush skill is still lacking, I decided to just gather random reference of patterns on chairs, mixed them and came up with what I have. It's not very intricate, I know. But maybe in the future it'll get better. (:

So we got an extension for my concept art portfolio! Yay! I was supposed to deviate from realism since I did it for my Hera concept. I made a stylised anime Harpy. I didn't want it to be too anime stylised. I also made it into an anatomy and rendering study.

INIQdHG.jpg

I have asked permissions from artists whom I got the pose from and also the outfit ideas. This piece of digital painting is purely for educational purposes only. Moreover, I didn't have a lot of time to do pose studies cos of the other briefs ):

Moreover, I did not have a lot of time to look and study wings so I just looked at some paintings and time lapse paintings on how to do wings. ;/

Here is the time lapse of my two harpies:

I originally wanted to make bird hands but I just can't nail it (not enough studies, I suppose). It failed the first time and it surely failed the second time. However, i liked this piece a lot that I didn't want to abandon it with horribly rendered bird hands. So in the end, I gathered enough reference to do a human hand (I suck at human hands! Not enough studies, I suppose). I was advised to make the nails glow. (:

My final concept will be made next week. (:

First speed sculpt. This is all I managed to do in 1hr unfortunately. I started off with a sphere, did the basic planes. I got a bit too carried away with the eyes.

Hi guys!

To start off my morning, I did another hour of zBrush sculpting! I had my alarm ringing for an eternity so I'd wake up do sculpt. Anyway, I think this one is better than the previous one.

Oh, some great work here :) Keep it up with these 1h sculpts, try a thing that I like to do - pick a random base mesh from zbrush like the head, clean the hair a bit and do 10 minutes run with it, try to make a different face then another 10 mins and from that face do another one completely different. Do that for like 4 or 5 times = 40/50 mins. I usually do a male rough face from that a female face then a old male face, but that is just how it comes to me at the moment. I like it because you will make faster decisions in terms of anatomy which is important so learn the facial muscles as well.  But yeah try something like that or stick to your 1h sculpts :)

Oh, I almost forgot, next time put some ears, it will make the head proportions more clear :)
Good job! Do more of these since you've got time.

+1 at what Yankov said, , the ears are really important landmarks, even if you don't detail them , just add a squished sphere at an angle and dynamsh add over it and bang placeholder for an ear

Hey guys! Thank you for taking your time to view my work thread! Really appreciate it. @Yankov, I will try that out. I'll alternate between 1hr sculpt and your idea. (:  As for the ears, yeah, I'll try and do that. I've never been friends with them but I'll attempt it. Thanks again (:
