Update on the lighting, cracked this out in the morning. Been rendering all day. Here is just a quick slap comp of all the concepts plus the corrections to the lighting scene that were made aware in a previous post. Wont be able to touch this until after Christmas so I cant respond to feedback as quick as I would hope to.

My future plans are to have a volume light coming out of the lamp the same way I did in the concept pieces, besides that, probably change the colours a bit and get it to match more.

People tend to throw phrases like "cinematic depth of field" around, but making films is usually about showing things, not showing how much you can put things out of focus.

 

The dimensions of the room are quite a bit off, which means you lose the reflections of the character coming in in the windows.

Smaller room also made you use a longer lens, which in turn drives it's photographic properties, like the aforementioned depth of field.

 

Also pay close attention to the colour and values of the light. The lamps/diffusers in the plate are quite a bit brighter and cooler than what you've got.

It's rare to get a decent amount of crit in one comment, I appreciate it. Yeah the DOF is a little bit dramatic in the concept pieces. I'll make sure to correct that. I'll try and find out the IES profiles of the lights and try to use a photometric lighting set up. Don't know if that would entirety help. But yeah I agree the colour temperature is off and needs fixing. I appreciate it

I've been playing around with the mini a bit. Through boredom and a mix of this holiday season I decided to light the mini up like a christmas tree.

Will probably tone it down a bit, I'm using a randomised expression: (random(1,frame*1)*1)+0

 

Still gotta add more bounce light in certain areas.

Another mini update, this time I tweaked the expression and added bounce light to certain areas. Its Been a bit tedious but I think I have a good method on how to do it now. Comps a mess but I can clean that up later, Heres what I got.

Thought I would share the game my group and I made for the Global Game Jam, I personally found it the most fun I have had working and would totally do it again next year. It was a somewhat new experience for me and I had a great time taking part. My job was to make and texture some of the assets in the game along with the branding. Its called Llamageddon and you have to fight against an army of evil Llamas, fend off wave after wave of enemies. Hope you enjoy:

Here is something I worked on whilst at ETC, mostly roto and some small keying work. First commercial job was to make cat memes. No animals were harmed in the making of this video. Enjoy

Yo, its about damn time I update this thread. Been working on a DMP lately, here it is
