Masks in Mari a quite simple, they're many quick tutorials on youtube giving you a basic guide (not that i would really recommend youtube, but it'll get you started for now). Yeah always post them, that was you'll get far better crit and help with your modeling. :)

Ah cool. I've just been looking at some and it doesn't seem too complicated.  Heres the wire of my pod. :)

You have a lot of quads that are very stretched, try adding more edge loops in areas so your quads are as close to even squares as possible. I have done a quick draw over in PS to give you an idea what i mean, its not perfect by all means and i haven't done all the areas. But you get the point. It's really, really important to have your quads be even all over, for example if you want to destroy the model the quads would have to be perfectly even.

Yeah I still haven't gotten into the habit of even quads and In my rush to finish the model I've forgot to keep it in mind. Looking now my engine has the same issue. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm not going to fix it now because I have like 3 days to finish everything but I will if i decide to continue working on it after deadline. :)

Ok this is a bit of a rushed comp but I wanted to post what Im doing. I managed to get the render below to ten mins a frame. Originally i thought I was out of time to do a pod racer turn around but I can probably get it done. Im going to do the clean version first then the dirty because I haven't got the dirty version done yet. The ground below the pod racer doesn't looks too good here but the one i have rendering currently is a bit better.

Also does anyone know if we are allowed to make our pod racer image completely 3D. I see a lot have comped it into a desert but I would rather just use a full 3d scene. Same goes for the shark.

Ok so I rendered that table explosion and Ive cut it short for now. If my pc gets a bit of breathing time before the dealine ill make the explosion longer but at the moment I'm sweating over all the things i have to render.

Got a couple quick and noisy renders here. First is the full pod racer. I put them together to get the scale right and stuffs. e0bfbdf31171e1cc8e0ba6e90223953d.jpg

Second is my dirty engine so far. Im not really happy with it at all to be honest. looks really odd. Maybe its just because its getting uglier (which i guess is the point???).

Well I'm impressed what I'm seeing here! You did a great job man. I'm a bit curious what software are you using for texturing?

Thanks a lot. :) If you think it looks good maybe ill just add a bit more and leave it. Was thinking it was all wrong tbh. I was going to use Mari but I was having crashing issues , normally id try and fix whatever was causing the crash but I just dont have time to be fixing stuff when I can just work around it. So i just used Photoshop and the slate editor in max.

Wow, that is genuinely insane, nice work! :D

Personally I think the dirty engine looks great, doesn't look odd to me. I definitely prefer it to the cleaner engine. Can't wait to see the final render!

Honestly I think it looks perfect since my skills are still not high enough to see any mistakes tho :D Try not to spend ages on one thing so you have enough time to finish everything properly.

~Congrats on fronting man, keep it up

Thanks a lot. :)  Yeah I definitely shouldn't be spending so long on stuff. My Shark and Table are gonna suffer for it. Hopefully once I've dirtied up the pod I can start focusing on the other stuff more.
