Hi guys :D

I'm Joe, one of this years freshers. Figured now was a good time to start my thread so here it is!

This is my tower for the art skills class.

Digital painting is completely alien to me so any and all advice is invaluable.  :)

imo I think the right section of the roof is a bit too light and the darkest curved section is too dark. When I look at the roof the two dark sections look very similar in tone. If you wanted to add a little more detail you could put the white dots at the top of the poles and the little sphere at the end of the horizontal bar near the top.

Thanks a lot Kieran. :) I see what you mean. I've made the changes you suggested, any better?

Great work! I really love your black and white photos. The composition of the first b&w photo is so fascinating.

Looking good Joe!

Only thing I would say with the tower piece is try to add some lighter shades to the sky, really helps to push the structure out from the background.

Loving the photography :D

Hey :) the base of the outstep in the tower slopes the wrong way and it might be worth messing around with gradients for the same section, also the whole tower is at a slightly different angle to the original :) have a good day

Ive been working on my street research for kowloon city. Its not done yet but here is my progress. I intend to add more 2D and image research to it as I know its a bit 3D heavy at the moment.

Really gorgeous stuff :) only thing I'd think to add would be a bit of a volumetric halo around the light. Assuming its your focal point, it could also draw the eye more. Took the liberty for a rough paint over:

Perhaps push the values up a touch in the mid-background, on the wall behind the person; might help bring them out a bit more and add some more depth. Lovely job on the fog, the wires really sell it. Super excited to see this taken further! :D

Thank you very much! :)  I played around with a halo but it must be too faint to even see the final image. I'll definitely increase it. I see what you mean with the

mid-background too, its all a bit flat there. I'll play around with the comp or maybe a dim light in the doorway. Thanks again for the advice its very helpful.  lolooooo

Havent posted in a little while. I have just "finished" the tron bike model and I'm planning to render out a turnaround. Im wanting crit on this scene below (imagine it spinning and shiz) before I commit to rendering the full turnaround.

Here's a clearer look at the model.

Please be as harsh as possible with any crit. Thanks for reading! :)
