The DMP is looking nice! The main thing that struck me was that the buildings look too silhouetted for the scene, particularly the group of buildings on the right. I feel like a bit of rim lighting on the left of them would add a lot, although you said it was still being worked on so perhaps you were planning to do that already!

The speed of the waves on the water is crazy fast, makes the scene feel a lot smaller than I feel it's supposed to look.

When the flare is at it's smallest it also looks a bit odd, feels a bit gunshot-y.

Stephen's touched on it already but from what I remember of the city from looking over your shoulder those towers actually looked good when you could see their details. Plus I feel like at this time in the evening people would have their lights on in their room so they could see, rather than living in darkness.

Super sexy though

Chris is right about the water - it moves too fast, but the scale of it is wrong, that's why the DMP feels like a miniature set - the waves should be much much smaller in scale. Some atmospheric haze and lighting is required for the city - we need to see some of the features; it can't just be a silhouette.

Keep making cool stuff :)

Yeah, I failed to mention that a lot of this at the moment is all proof of concept, half the time I am winging it (you should see how much off a mess the nuke script is). ocean can be scaled easily, at least the way its been layed out non destructively so in theory I just need to change the noise size and speed. I can get something fixed up soonish. probably after the weekend. Flare is a WIP, I am just iterating on top of what I already have. Buildings look fine in nuke (vimeo is messing with my shit) I haven't really touched them but I can lighten up the mattes.

here is a screenshot out of nuke:

cheers for the crit

Alright, something quick before I sleep, here is a random frame with the ocean re-scaled and slowed down, (boy, Nuke is beautiful). Also lightened up the buildings slightly, I have a feeling the silhouette was from the video compression.

That looks a lot better Eddy. You need a bit more atmosphere on the towers that are a little behind the foreground towers - at the moment they are blending together and that is confusing regarding our understanding of depth in the scene

Cheers Martin I am playing around with atmospherics in nuke with the particle emitter. I will get some light passes rendered in Maya and use them to highlight areas. Ill keep iterating up until the final submission. The bulk is done its just the fine aesthetic parts that need working on.
