Started blocking out my final image. Finished the basic line work and started adding some colour. Still need to add a lot of small details like the wooden poles extruding from the top of the building but I will get round to that soon. I also still need to do the shadows but I think we have a lecture on that soon so I might wait.

final progress of today, don't want to be looking at this all day xD

full opacity linework is only temporary whilst I am getting everything added, I will mess around with it later.

Ahh, dude. good to see you back. Not much I can critique say on the 3D side. But one thing you want to avoid are the black outlines in you paintings. If they are there as just a guide then that's fine but just make sure in your fully rendered painting that they're gone. If you want some good resources for digital painting then this is the place to go:

Its packed with tutorials, I cant comment this link on every thread so share it around with your peers, its an awesome resource to have. Keep it up mate.

Thanks, its been a while :) Thanks for the feedback, yeah I will get rid of the dark outlines in the final painting. In the example that Martin showed he had his lines at a low opacity and it made the painting look a lot better so I am probably going to do something like that. I still have a lot to paint at the moment so it looks really strange without the linework.

Interesting lighting angle :) I'm spotting some strange shadows though.

If you want to create a value separation to show depth then I'd suggest darkening the whole face of that surface a fraction.

Some work from the exquisite character brief, I thought I was really going to hate this brief at the beginning but its starting to grow on me :)

I got told in the lesson to have a go at doing some head studies before diving into doing a full detailed character, so here are a few bits of me messing around with different shapes and styles.

I did this character before doing the head studies so I will probably end up going back and trying out some other designs

I got told last lecture that his parents are hippies and they all like Jimmi Hendrix, hes 7 years old and black in 1970's Chicago

I just typed out a long comment about all the stuff I did to this painting but something messed up and it didn't actually post :/

Some progress on the street scene, I need to start working on my London one soon.

Loving your work so far!   I like how you have experimented with different shapes in your character designs. They work really well.

Started working on one of my London compositions, probably going to do a similar amount to what I did for Egypt.

The discolouration is nice dude :), maybe add darker shadows to the faraway building to add more depth.

Some progress from tonight, Frank gave me some feedback on the windows that they looked strange having the curtains on the outside and that they would make more sense inside. I think it makes the image look a lot better, looks a lot less flat.

Decided to post on the polycount 2D forum as well to see what feedback I get.

Liking the wall details, the wear and tear adds to a sense of realism. Just a thought, is the ladder drawn from reference? I would imagine it would sit at an angle from the wall.
