\\POD RACER PROGRESS

Test Render, will need to add more details to the external shell of the engine and cockpit, maybe some repeating geometry around it.

Should probably shift guns back to top of engine as well.

Very nice man, get some spec breakup and add some dirt in the textures, its looking more like a toy at the moment. I found this recently and I thought it is a cool visual example of weathering when it comes to texturing.

Would be cool to see some emissive lights in the engines as well. Model is solid, make this a nice texturing piece to show. :)

Hey man thanks for the feedback, I've been trying to get around texturing this engine and am somewhat at a lost. Compared to the shark at least I know how it's skin looks like, as for here I'm having trouble coming out with how it's panels should come out like.

T6PETo7l.png

I've tried sorta making the materials here less plasticy from a toy and more on a metalic matte ish base metal look.

Here I've been trying to get around texturing it but am having difficulty on its texture design outcome. I think I'll just add bump scratches if I'm out of time. I have been going through reference's of clean podracer designs and panneling that sorta looks like bump on them.

I've been trying to emulate this look on the engines, clean looking along with the panelling in between, are they just bump lines drawn around the object?

After playing around in mudbox for quite some time I've decided to dump this idea as it did not fit the engine look.

Decided to play around more on this look instead for the engine.

Have you tried picking up a copy of substance painter? I only say this because there are talks that mudbox will not be around for much longer.

You can get a student copy for free, the algorithmic youtube channel has everything you need with getting started. I would recommend learning it if you haven't because it is an incredible piece of software.

There is also Quixel, I think its very underrated and its used a lot by smaller game developers because its so cheap and simple to use. Take a look, its a nice little piece of software:

Also dont forget to linearise your work in nuke afterwards

Hey I've been trying out Substance painter and am still learning what tool does what. Here is my Progress so far on the outer shell, I think I'll be leaving it as it is till I texture the other parts out and come back to the outer shell once again if I have time to tweak.

Thanks for pointing out Substance painter!

I should probably remove the bump riveting or put physical object riveting around the front outer shell.

Ayee that looks great! I feel like it looks quite matte though and you could probably rough it up a bit with some more dirt/rust? the model is great though.  :p

Hey, I've attempted to rough up the material a little more but I've been having trouble on trying to understand how to get the same output from substance painter into arnold to look the same, below were my results.
